About Rural Housing
Rural Housing is a government subsidized loan program.
This is from their website:
“The Housing and Community Facilities Programs provides a number of homeownership opportunities to rural Americans, as well as programs for home renovation and repair. HCFP also makes financing available to elderly, disabled, or low-income rural residents of multi-unit housing buildings to ensure they are able to make rent payments.”
Unfortunately once you get 90 days past due they will only take the total amount to catch the loan up. They will not accept any workouts after you become 90 days past due.

Late fees are ridiculous, they double what you owe the first month and then double again the second month and so forth, low class citizens don't make 2,000 in one month!

When I tried to explain my financial situation they were very nasty and nonchalant about anything you say, also you could never get a straight answer from anyone in either departments.

I just don't like the fact that when ever our income would go up, so would our payment. I just want to refinance and be done. So any help you could give us would be great

The company has been good if you can understand what is being said. I have also had to wait almost an hour to talk to someone. I have gotten many different people who have given me different answers to my questions and I still didnt get my answer, answered.

We submitted paperwork for a moratorium which was never declined as far as we understand. I received a phone call wanted an appraisal.

I have tried and noted dates of contact. Rural Housing will not work with you for reasonable payment on missed payments. Will not call back and will not give you phone numbers of other department that you need to contact. Once set up of escrow will not adjust if you get your own insurance or pay your own taxes. Very difficult to work with.

by Anonymous From Clintonville, WI on April 04, 2007
Hard to deal with. Will not accept partial payments. Intercepts taxes without notice

by Michelle Finegan From Rittman, OH on April 04, 2007
We have filed bk and they won't except a payment arrangement so we can get out of bk the payments are to much and they will not work with us
