I have been with Huntington over 11 years, only because of their close proximity to my home. They have the worst policies regarding deposits. I just deposited an $8500 cashiers check from another local bank into my savings. They said that, as a matter of policy, place a hold on anything over $5K. I pointed out that it's a cashiers check and I should just be able to cash it out if I wanted. The teller said she would try and call to verify it after I left. So, now I'm home and have no idea whether or not a hold was placed on it. I don't anticipate spending this money immediately, but if i should have immediate access. Also, they hate small business. Over and above standard processing time they place an additional one day hold on those funds because I'm a small business. I work out of my home and my small business money is my "paycheck." I have at least a dozen examples of really crappy customer service and arrogance.

Bullying attitudes, snarky customer service. These guys are no better than common thugs. Will be taking my business elsewhere.
by Anonymous From Marysville, OH on July 21, 2011
It doesn't help that they hire people that are misrepresenting themselves as being worthy of handling other people's money. One guy they hired went bankrupt and did not pay back his debts. I wouldn't deal with this company if they can't check out who they are hiring.

Balloon mortgage up for renewal. Declined once, agreed to principle + interest 5% 30 year fixed on amount reflecting 70% of home value, all of a sudden I didn't qualify after 2nd review, then referred to "Home Saver" plan which from reading these earlier posts are for Huntington customers who are three or more months delinquent. I never missed or was late a single payment, my credit score is 789, and I make 6 figures per year. Tomorrow I do business with a different bank which I've dealt with for over 25 years and one that rolled out the red carpet when they saw me coming! This other bank sets the standard for professionalism and treats their customers like human beings, unlike Huntington. They're not all as bad as Huntington is, you just have to look long and hard to find one.

Lied about reaffirm paperwork they never filed but said they did! Trying to get answers regarding refinancing is like pulling teeth. Mortgage rep is working hard while underwriters are a joke! Left hand doesn't tell left fingers what is going on! There seems to be a lack of wanting to do their JOB in a timely manner. VERY HARD to work with. I am looking into another mortgage company to use.

They have been underhanded when it comes to proceeding with my short sale. They say one thing and then do another. Initially told me short sale accepted now saying I will owe them the difference after they were responsible to continued price drops on the home. They have horrible customer service, do not return calls, and are just plain dishonest.

I have never been late on a payment and have paid $500.00 extra payment every month, that I pay to principal only. When they decided to take interest out of the extra payments, I called customer service. What a joke. I was so mad that I was crying when I hung up. I have excellent credit and the only thing the jerk on the phone would say was for me not to worry about it that I was doing fine with my loan. I know I'm doing fine, in spite of the "other charges" the "early payoff charges" and the fact that the interest that should go down every month, sometimes goes up instead. But if you tell them how unethical they are, they will mess up your account the next month. I know, that is what they did to mine. I blame the car dealership that I bought my new car from for hooking me up with this outfit. I will never buy another car from any dealer that finances anything with Huntington Bank.

Applied for loan modification through loss mitigation and have a housing counselor through FHA working with me. I was told the application is "in the pipeline"...now my house is in foreclosure with auction date Sept 16 and they do not answer phone, email, letters for me or my counselor. FHA options mean nothing, don't need them to care, I need them to act as a professional bank and at least answer correspondence. I have a full time job and have the entire time (30% pay cut) but they refuse to even try to work with someone. Take the loss because I will be better off without this bank. Absolutely the worst ever and literally lie to you...if you can get them to talk or communicate with you!
by Anonymous From Adrian, MI on July 29, 2010
I am now in a foreclosure situation this month after they told me that "it would be fine" to make my payment at the end of this month (July). I talked with a couple of reasonable people in the last few days, but most are rude and do not return calls. I would recommend that no one should take out any loan with them for any reason. They lie and it's wrong. They make it appear that they will work with you via their "Home Saver" program, but it's a sham. Get out while you can if you have a Huntington mortgage. We originally took out the loan when it was Sky Bank and they were fine.
by Anonymous From Toledo, OH on June 28, 2010
Old Sky bank customer with a commercial loan. Huntington took over and it been awful. They lie to you. Sign new loan papers they say you didn't. My advise to anyone DO NOT DEAL WITH HUNTINGTON FOR ANY REASONS
by Tara Barker From Cleveland, OH on May 24, 2010
I am current with my payment. The house has been for sale approximately 90 days, no interest in it. It is worth far less than I paid for it and it is becoming difficult to continue to pay.

After a year of trying to negotiate on my own, working through a BS forbearance program that really didn't help - now I am in foreclosure and still no job. Where are the great programs; 0% interest, mortgage re-writes, etc. that were supposed to be available to struggling homeowners?
by Anonymous From Montpelier, OH on February 25, 2010
I have my mortgage with them and a car payment. My car was suppose to be paid off this January 2010, but they said I still have a balance of 1200 with them. I had them give me a print out of the account, they have charges of 100.00 for what they call OTHER. When I asked them what this was, they said they didn't know, they said it was not a late payment charge.. they weren't sure what it was. Have tried to get this taken care of to no avail. Also my mortgage originated with Sky Bank, we have a 1st and 2nd, while we had Sky Bank the account was going down as it should. When Huntington Bank took them over they started charging me like an interest only loan on my second, I took matters to one of the higher ups in the company they did look into it and I am getting credit for paying again, but it still does not seem like it is going down like it was when Sky Bank was the owner. We tried to consolidate our first and second mortgage when the Banks first got all the Bailout money... we were told they couldn't because homes were loosing their value... when I asked them if they got the bailout money, the mans answer was Yeah we got it, we really didn't need it so we are buying other banks. UNREAL... what a Horrible,Untrustworthy Bank. I regret the day I ever walked into Sky Bank and took out the loans, if i could have seen into the future and known that Huntington Bank was going to buy them I would have run the other way as fast as I could have.

Huntington said they would "help" me. I was 1 payment behind. They gave me a pass payment, charged $69 dollars, and moved the payment to the end of the loan. Then, they proceeded to not apply anything to principal for 4 months (I am 2 years into the loan). I make $10 an hour at one job and have several others. I have paid them over 1500 since last July and only $2.00 has gone into principal.

They suck!
by Mark Camerot From Greensburg, PA on October 09, 2009
I absolutely agree that Huntington is the worst bank ever! I lost my job in March of 2009 and immediately called Huntington for relief in regards to my mortgage. They gave me the number to mortgage consultant, Doug Mcyltrot, was was helping customers with the new Fed mortgage restructure plan. I tried to contact this consultant for several months and at first wouldn't even get a call back. I finally went to the local branch in which he worked and he turned white as a ghost then lied straight to my face. I finally called Huntington's corporation. Mortgage division and I am still waiting for a call back. This bank should be turned into the Better Business Bureau as well as turned into the local legislature.

There are no words that accurately describe how horrible this company is. They force-placed insurance on my account even though I had never had a lapse in home insurance coverage. I provided proof of insurance as required, but ended up with a forced escrow account with a delinquent balance for insurance for 3X the costs of homeowners insurance. They then applied my mortgage payments to the bogus escrow account, and I have been harassed by collection agents ever since. I have spent hours on the phone trying to correct the problem, and though I am told every time that the problem has been solved, it never has been. I received two phone calls from their collection department before 9AM this morning. After asking for a written statement verifying correction of their error, I was told they had to charge me $15 to fax me a letter. Collectively they are the most subhuman, incompetent, heartless, illogical group of people I have ever had the misfortune to have to work with. Don't let this be you...choose to finance your home elsewhere.

I am a Realtor working for a seller on a Huntington short sale. The offer was finally approved by Huntington and now I cannot get them to answer their phones or emails. They are rude and unresponsive.I have purchasers that have paid for an inspection and appraisal & cannot get any answers. THEY ARE AWFUL!!!!

My home is going into foreclosure. In June I completed the "loan modification" paperwork. On 8/24 I received a message from them. I have continued to call the person back more than once a day and also sent an email. I have received no return phone calls or a response to my email. I have never in my life received such incredibly poor customer service. I went to them for help, expecting help. Obviously they don't care about their customers. I expect a simple call back and get nothing.

I had fallen behind from working for a company that ended up not paying me for over a month. Catching up on payments; now I have made 4 additional payments in the past 6 months and instead of applying my payments to my account, they held the payments. Showing on my credit report they were made later than I took them to the bank & then some payments went to fees, not to my account at all. On top of that they have also mailed back payments, after clearing them from my bank! Now, they tell me I am still behind 2 months (when actually I have never been more than 2 months total behind. - Shouldn't making 4 extra payments cover that?!?!) Very rude, unhelpful, and confusing!!!! They can't even explain what they do with your money.
by Amy From Columbus, OH on April 06, 2009
The customer service people are rude and could care less. I had a manager tell me she didn't care if I foreclosed it didn't hurt her at all. I was never a full month behind but none of my other bills were getting paid so I tried to get them to lower my monthly payment or consider a short sale as sooner or later I have to pay my other bills. The lady who dealt with my account told me after it took 3 weeks and me making a phone call everyday that she actually has people in foreclosure she is trying to help. Really? You want me to be another one? I hope one day those people find themselves in the situation we are in and get to go through what we are going through.

I had my loan with them for 11 years and defaulted. The loss mitigation dept is extremely rude!!!!!! I "jumped through all of their hoops" and was then told that it was too late to stop the foreclosure. They locked me out of my home before the property was sold at public auction. I have been given nothing but the run-around and a bunch of lies from this company.

Huntington is by far the worst mortgage company I believe there is. Extremely unfriendly customer service, no matter what dept. you deal with. No help at all in helping you save your home. Filed a complaint against them, waiting to hear how that turns out. I suggest to anyone....Do not deal with these people

It takes them too long to respond to an offer for a short sale. When they do, they lose the buyer and the house gets broken into and everything stolen out of it. Now they will get nothing. No wonder the banks are all in trouble.

in the middle of short-sale negotiations and may lose a qualified buyer due to Huntington not returning communication. The bank could end up getting less for the house thus costing them more. I don't understand why there is not more urgency on their part.

It's not their fault, they inherited this issue from a previous company.. but they majorly dropped the ball when it came to reaffirming my mortgage.. they have ignored this and have made it really hard for me to get answers that I need

This company is horrible, I started out 2 months behind and now am over 8 months behind due to jumping through the hoops for a loan modification. I can't get any response from the lady that is my rep. unless of course I call her boss then she'll email or call and say sorry for the delay, started all of this in 4/2011 and here it is 1/2012 and still waiting....How can they get away with this ??
