I called to talk with the counselors at GMAC and in so many words they told me I could request a short sale which may not be approved or I could let my house go into foreclosure.

Impossible to talk to

No matter what they say they WILL NOT benefit you. In my case, asking for a forebearance for 4 months thru an eviction to allow GMAC direct access to TWO interested buyers - GMAC simply filed foreclosure. As for me, I went 7 rather than bury myself further. GMAC went so far as to suggest I short my child support or to erradicate my 401. Folks....no matter what they say, GMAC stands for "Get Money Any Chance". Don't trust them.

Trying to work out loss of 2nd income due to my ex fiancee having an affair and leaving me and the house and making me move out - house has been empty for 2 years - paid on mortage till March of this year yet they have not approved short sale as of yet - home has decreased 200K and havn't found any options to keep house.

I have written several letters to them explaining my position but I continue to receive harassing phone calls. The past two months I have been unable to make either mortgage payment due to an increase in utilities and family visiting. I went to a meeting a while back schedule by GMAC Financial but they were unwilling to assist me because my adjustable mortgage couldn't discussed because it was too early, like April or May. I was making payments on time at that time too.

Please read my last comments. This company is dishonest, deceitful, without morals and motivated by pure greed. They care nothing about the family unit and the aftermath of an honest, hardworking family forced onto the street even after following GMAC's agreement to reconcile a past due account. GMAC's word means nothing. They will do or say whatever possible to achieve their financial objectives.

Not willing to work with me to keep me in my home. Everyone I talk to at GMAC just wants to secure a payment of some kind, will not allow me to talk to anyone in loss mitigation, short sale or even a supervisor. The greed they are displaying is disgusting as they were making great money off of me when I was at 6.25% and now I'm about to go to 11.25% and they only want more money.

The worst company I have ever dealt with. They do not keep accurate records, they tried to foreclose on me, I paid off the mortgage now they don't release the deed. They filed it in the wrong county!! and even though my balance is ZERO, they are still charging for drive by inspections! 8 per month... Online statement is different from what they sent me. Very rude, hateful customer service. Now they are telling me I am permitted to make one more payment over the computer & after this I have to phone my payment in (this is an extra charge). Am forcing me to pay late charges at this very moment even though I don't have the cash. Wife got very ill this past winter & our home ins. lapsed for 2 weeks only before she renewed it. GMAC automatically put insurance on it themselves WITHOUT consulting us at all. So now we owe them an extra $77.00 for the lousy 2 weeks of insurance. I am submitting this anonymously because due to the trouble I am having with GMAC at the moment I AM AFRAID of retailation. They can demand payment in full any time they want. If it wasn't for this I would be one among the very first to stand up against them.

I personally had no problem with my loan company. I foolishly took an ARM and it hasn't worked well. I became disillusioned with them when I made the first call to them after receiving a letter from them telling me that they were interested in helping me if I was one of those consumers who had an ARM and found the adjusting payments to be difficult. When I called and spoke with one of their reps, he took @ 5 min. with me on the phone reviewed my account, told me that my house was worth less than the current loan amount and he could do nothing. I said that it was that way because of the current loan, and I guessed that it was just my problem. He laughed and said have a good day.

Horrible waiting time for a live person to answer phone, transferred to wrong departments, now that interest rates are being cut, my house payments are not lower! They stated there is a process I have to go thru to see if I qualify for my payments to get lowered. UMM, funny, when interest rates went up, my house payments went up automatically, but now I have to QUALIFY for a program to get the payments lowered? Something is very wrong with this company.

If I could redo one thing in life it would be to never had entered into a contract with them and I will never spend my money with them again! Just a warning! Think again before making a deal with GMAC, it could be ther worst choice you ever made..

Building Departments are experiencing unauthorized parties taking possession of vacant properties and even renting them out to unsuspecting parties. The lenders do not want to assist agencies that have the authorization to close these buildings until they (lenders) can act accordingly. In the meantime the calls for police and public service increases. What is wrong with this picture? Work with your area police and building & safety divisions. Who do you call when you need help, just think how you would feel if they choose to ignore your calls?

by Anonymous From Orange, CA on October 10, 2007
GMAC currently (as of their internal memo dated 5/2) are not doing any Option ARM Modifications period. Now here is the rub - I've talked to many in their organization regarding a modification on this particular loan. They never informed me that it couldn't be done. But sent me the paperwork to do it. In addition the rep from the Loss Mit Department spoke out of both sides of her mouth. First it was, hypothetically, "it could be the investor" and then 2 minutes later when I pressed the issue, it became the investor. This leads me to believe that these comments are outright lies or someones lack of understanding as to what their company is saying. Isn't it the right of a consumer or any individual to ask why? It is unfortunate that the company is not informing their staff so they can answer questions, resolve issues. Right now GMAC is a hold button and if you have an hour or more you may try to get an uninformed comment. Needless to say I sent the MOD package in 10/2 - no answer as of 10/10 (not even a call back saying we don't do on this type of loan) and they pulled up the paperwork and said without looking at the particulars the borrower is over-extended. Well yes - they are based upon the 30 year option payment... but they are strapped and need help with the interest only payment. If someone would just review information, be informed and try to help. The public is being requested to call, help is there. Well guess what... that 'help' hasn't trickled down from Washington yet and the big boys on top at GMAC must be saying yes to D.C. & say no to the client. What a waste...

GMAC is a difficult company to work with. Had the money to bring the loan current and they were missing two pieces of info and wouldn't take payment in the mean time. GMAC Financial Services is not the best to deal with, but they are in 2nd position, so I guess this is to be expected. Try to comply with their wishes on how to proceed to sell home, but selling in this immediate market where I live calls for measures that are beyond what is on their protocol list. They don't get it!
