Have been working on a modification for two years now...have sent to them 30 separate faxed packets to 15 different mortgage counselors who no longer can be contacted. Have been working through NACA for six months and have not gotten a proposal to discuss or modify. I have had to resubmit information continuously.

I fell behind with citi every time I would call I would get another service rep and set up payment arrangements. They would call back stating that the arrangement was never talked about and I was going into foreclosure. I started paying them every two weeks as planned and the mortgage stayed the same like I never paid a cent. My mortgage was 35,000 in 2000 and still 35000 in 2010. My second mortgage never came down either. The interest on the mortgage was approximately 80% with almost nothing going towards the principal balance. Now they told me to move out and the house has been in between foreclosure for one year and one month. I can not get any answers on how I can get my name off of the deed while the property sits vacant. neichner@aol.com

I have never dealt with people like this. These people have absolutely no business being IN business. We have been fighting foreclosure for MONTHS now. We just get passed from person to person EACH requesting documents that were already sent to the first five people we dealt with along with having to explain everything all over again. Someone needs to get together and file a class action suit. I for one would sign up for this!

they are thieves, people are right you pay them and they must keep some of the money for themselves because the balance always seems to be higher, you can't speak to any higher ups either what is going on with them, I will see a layer next week, Obama should read these comments all and do something. They should have their license taken away and fined.

I have been on the hook with Citi for years. Job downsized three years ago, they supposedly are working with me payment lower about 25%, however, it appears my loan started over because 95% of my payment is going to interest and my principal is not moving more than 100.00 a year! I am ready to go, hope they will take a deed in lieu of foreclosure, if not then so be it. I will never pay this house off paying 100.00 a year on the principal. I owe 121K, it's only worth 60K, now, not sure how it will go, after reading all these posts- just have to deal with it as it comes

I had no choice but to take out a home equity loan to save my house after going through a divorce, worst thing i ever did,now 3 years later i fall behind and get called 2 times a day for weeks,I answer the phone all i get is harassed and insist i pay them or else, sorry I never called you back ma'am i say. I called you to try to work out a payment and tell you I can pay in full next week, sorry mr that is no good...blah blah...Don't ever do business with these people.

by Anonymous From Lufkin, TX on July 14, 2010
I was approved for a debt consolidation loan through Citi Financial. The rep told me over the phone that my total interest to be paid on the 5K loan would be $1800.00. When I get to the office, right before he prints the necessary papers to sign he informs me that he made a mistake over the phone, and the total interest would be 3K, not 1800. I promptly told him I wasn't interested in the offer and walked out as fast as I could. This company is certainly considered a loan shark, as they will try to "flip" you into buying things you don't need, such as different kinds of insurance during the closing process.

by Angela Helfrick, Realtor From Atlanta, GA on June 28, 2010
This company has been very difficult to deal with on a short sale. I have a seller with a 2nd mortgage with citi and citi requires the short sale (Short Sale) to be worked by the local branch who is clueless on Short Sales. They are not willing to help my client and are demanding payment in full at closing to release the lien which is ridiculous! My client is willing to sign a note and that is just not good enough for them. I wish I could talk with the higher ups, but the local branch refuses to give me their contact info. Citi is going to be the reason that this property goes to foreclosure as we have an approval from the first and we are waiting on CITI to work with us!

I have had lots of problems with this company from the very start. Too many to go into here. The last straw was trying to get modification help, only to be strung along for 3 weeks and then at the last moment , have them pull the plug on the help I was trying to get to keep my house. Information they did not share until the last moment. Information that I cannot prove or disprove, but kept me from receiving help. This is only one of many problems.

I do not suggested ANYONE to ever use this institution! My mother had our mortgage at a very reliable bank and it was almost paid for with taxes and insurance included in the payment. Citi Financial somehow got her contact information and after suffering a brain aneurysm her behavior became erratic and I feel that they took advantage of her vulnerability. Due to her excellent credit, they began calling and badgering her on a daily basis and she finally gave in and went and refinanced through them a short time before she passed away. We were in complete shock when we found out that she had done this and only found out how it happened through one of her close friends she had confided in. They act like loan sharks! Harass and call constantly. I need help!

by Karma From Westfield, MA on February 14, 2010
I have no idea why I chose to do a re-finance on my house with Citi in Westfield, Ma. I had borrowed money from them prior and when I found difficulties making payments for my home improvement loan, they said they could help if I let them take over my current mortgage. I have and still do have a fantastic credit rating. I agreed to this and after 5 payments I asked to have my % lowered, which I was told would not be a problem when I signed my paperwork. At that time, they then told me I did not make enough money and had to get a second job making at least 1,200 a month. I said I was afraid that I would lose my house and could not find a job in this market part time. I was totally stressed out. They asked me to provide old pay stubs to see if I would qualify for a loan modification. I said I would not provide false documentation. I said I was going to go "bank" shopping. They told me no bank would want me because my loan with them was not "seasoned". The first bank I went to, took me and I now have a mortgage re-finance of 5.16% as opposed to the 11% I had with Citi. I would never ever recommend anyone to do business with this company. They are intimidating and are predatory lenders.

Citi Financial is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I received a bill on a 12 month interst free program the bill came with the due date of 9/15/2009. I sent the money on 9/04/09. I called just to see my balance and it said that since I did not pay off by 9/01/2009 that I owed interest for the whole year. Which was over $1000.00 25% interest. The rep said it looks like it would be deceving to see the due date of 9/15/2009.They said sorry nothing they could do.I would hate to have my home mortage with them. Please beware of them. The branch manager has asked me to do all sorts of things to get him his money. He has even asked me to write a hot check to them on one of my friends checking accounts. They sold me loss of job insurance and when I lost my job, never even offered to help use it. When i questioned him about this, he told me it was too late to use this option. His own company told me that was not true, but when I did fill out paperwork, it never made it to the home office. My next door neighbor has been asked to do the same kind of things by this person, as her loan is with them too. I am disgusted with this man.

by Anonymous From Berlin, NJ on May 16, 2009
We needed to roll debt into a refinance, and were saddled with the info, at the closing table, that our % rate was exhorbitantly higher than we expected, and the taxes were not escrowed. We had no other option at the time, so we went ahead with it. We have a HORRIBLE mortgage, and a house that is not worth what we owe. On a positive note, once we got into the mortgage, the CitiFi employees have treated us with the utmost courtesy and have tried to assist us in dealing with payments along the way.

Citi Financial is the absolute worst company!! I went into my local Citi Financial branch, and told the customer service rep., that I wanted to make a half a payment then, and the other half payment before the due date, because I needed to save money up for Christmas, and low and behold, she smiles and says, " Oh, well let me help you with that!" So, I make an interest payment, and she says, "You're fine until next month." I said okay, and Merry Christmas. January payment I was one day late, so of course there was a late payment fee of $15.00, that I promptly paid the beginning of February, along with February payment. In March, I paid the payment for that month, early. Two weeks go by, I get a call from my Citi Financial customer service rep., telling me that I owe a late charge, and I needed to pay by April or there would be more than one late charge. I asked her how could I owe a late charge when I had been current, and had paid January late charge, in February? She said, and I quote, " I don't know, it's different with real estate, I'm not really sure." And yet you want me to pay something that you yourself don't even understand? So, I told her I was going to call Corporate, and maybe they could figure out these charges, she then commences to yelling at me, asking me why I was yelling at her for, when I hadn't even raised my voice. She then stated she would call the district manager and see if they could waive the charges. I told her that would be a good idea since I had no intention of paying them. Since then, I have had rude calls from her, and the office personnel, and now have been threatened with Foreclosure. Are you freaking kidding me? I'm only 7 days late at the time of this posting. These people are very unprofessional, rude, and don't have very good customer skills! I have never dealt with people like this in my life! My husband says, "Well, if they want it, they can have it!" And I agree, let them try to get their money out of a 15 year old mobile home!! GOOD LUCK CITIFINANCIAL!!

Our mortgage was sold to Citi. Most of the payment goes towards interest. They didn't notify us they put insurance on our house in jan. of 08, but we got a letter in jan. of 2009 that we owed $900.00 for it. we had insurance and sent them the declaration page last year about 4 times and about 3 times this year. They called here for about a month from 8:00am to 9:00pm. I was told 4 times they made a mistake and that the problem was taken care of. Yesterday I got a letter that we are'nt insured, but we are. And they have a company listed we never heard of.They seem to be adding things on like they want to push us into foreclosure. I can never talk to the same person and when i call the numbers on letters they all go to India or they call me from India. The other nite I asked guy if the company changed it's name to Citi Rip-Off. He didn't evenknow what I was talking about and said no this is Citi Mortgage. These are the people handling our loans. They are very rude and can't answer questions or even try.I'm trying to find a way to talk to someone in USA. I had a 5 year loan with Citifinancial - that helped me pay off some credit cards. Last year - I was close to paying it off - so I added an extra $20 to my $180 a month payment. When I received my December statement of $149 - I realized I was close to paying them off. This month - January - I receive a final statement of $1.75 to pay them off. I sent that in - it cleared today. I received a call at work from Citifinancial stating that I still owed 2 cents. I couldn't believe my ears. 2 cents? How much did the phone call cost? When I'm able - after Citifinancial is paid off - I will pay off my credit cards from Citicards. I will never ever do business with them again.

Do not do business with this company. You will never get out of debt once they finance anything. Not one cent will ever be paid on the principal and you will always be 3 months behind no matter when or how you make your payments. This company supposedly bought out Associates when they got into trouble for doing the same thing but nothing has changed.

this is absurd. They gave my parents an escrow refund in 11/07 then paid the city and county taxes in 12/07 and had them starting Jan. 08 w/ a negative escrow balance. Now here it is 12/08 and the escrow is 1800.00 short, but my calculations don't add up to that. Why the hell do they let a customer go monthly with a negative escrow balance and never adjust it or contact them, oh I know why, they collect interest on it if it is not paid in full. i would not recommend you have your house payment autodrafted by these people either. it gives you a false sense that they know what they are doing, and you may look at your statement, but never really LOOK at it. This company sucks!!

Borrowed 5,000, paid back 3,500 next day. Left balance of 1,500, in 5 months had paid over 1,000 in interest. Thank God I able to pay the loan off. Never seen anything like it, even when making decision to borrow money I ask all the right questions. I beleve this is one of the most legel-illegal scams any lender can do. These people give good lenders a bad name.

citi financial is one of the most dishonst financial companies my wife and I have ever had the displeasure of doing business with. we refinanced with them about 5 years ago. after we started making our new mortage payments the phone calls started saying we still owed money on the old loan. they told my wife they wouldn't release our property if we didn't pay. we wanted to know what the money was we supposedly owed. no answer, even writing letters to real people if you want to call them that got us no response. they ruined our credit. after two months of harresment we got a bill from them for $20,000.00 on thew old loan which wqas supposdly payed up. we had to hire an attorney who wrote to them asking them ont to forclose on us because there was a mistake that they had made. that did no good we received forclosure papers we have since gotten it straightned out but are in the process of counter suing them had the judge dismiss the case. it was then appealed and that was turned down now its in for the final appeal if this gets turned down we lose they win. I also believe they pay off judges to rule in ther favor at least it looks that way in our case. bad people best to stay away from them and get a loan from louie the loan shark you'll get a better deal. don't pay you get a broken leg citi ruins your credit, takes your house, makes you suffer for years.

THEN I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS TOO LATE TO USE IT. I FOUND OUT LATER, THAT WAS A LIE. HE EVEN WANTED ME TO HAVE ONE OF MY FRIENDS WRITE A CHECK TO HIM ON THEIR ACCOUNT AND HE WOULD HOLD IT, UNTIL I WAS PAID. I TOLD HIM THAT KNOWINGLY WRITING A HOT CHECK WAS AGAINST THE LAW, ESPECIALLY ON ONE OF MY FRIENDS ACCOUNTS, WHICH IS FRAUD. HE THEN TOLD ME, THAT WAS THE ONLY WAY HE COULD THINK OF TO HELP ME. SO HE COULD NOT HELP ME ANYMORE.

Due to financial hardship they offered to defer 3 payments, did all paperwork and assumed the deferral was good. Turns out they only deferred 2 months so right away we were behind again - never notified us that they only deferred 2 months. Went into foreclosure and had to pay $2200 within 24 hours to get out of foreclosure. Very difficult to work with, rude employees. At one point I had to write a letter requesting that a particular employee NOT work on our case because she was so rude and demeaning to me.

Tried to payoff my mortgage with CitiMortage. Called to get a payoff quote and will not give it to me over the phone. Phone system said will mail within 7 business days. Did not receive on the 8th business day and went to a Citibank center to pay it off. While in the citibank, had to call mortgage dept myself and get a quote. Asked for payoff quote, guy on the phone said "refinance?". I told him no, had to explain what a payoff quote is. Still refuse to give me a hard number, asked if I want in mail or fax, told him I'm already at their bank and just want to pay off the loan, need to know my principle + interest as of today. Finally given me a number... Went to pay at the teller, first teller said no prob before I made the call. The guy on the phone said no prob pay at the bank. The second teller said no you can't pay off your mortgage here. She even made an attempt to call their customer service to make sure. I asked her why I can't pay it off, she can take mortgage payments there, it's exactly like how she enters a mortgage payments, you enter the principle and extra principle and interest a person is paying (I used to work at a bank), she still refused. I was tired of paying games with her so I asked for a manager, she went on arguing and said "sure I can get you a manager but they'll tell you the same thing". Never got me a manager. I was so upset I closed all my accounts with them right there and then! I know Citibank is going through a hard time right now but didn't think they're using that low of a tactic to keep $2 worth of interest. I know what kinda of games they're playing, the later I pay off the mortgage, the more interest they earn. What a rotten company.

Citi financial is a lousy company to be doing business with. unfortunately, most people that have an mortgage with them had no choice in the matter. i have found their employees to be crooks, thieves, and liars, etc. i had to fight with them for a mortgage modification and this was after being under two Chapter 13 bankruptcy plans. DO NOT DO ANY BUSINESS WITH CITI CORP. OR ANY OF THE COMPANIES THEY CONTROL. I watch and check out any business(s) i use for anything. I will never recommend them to anyone.

I had a 1st and 2nd mortgage with Citi. By chance I went to check my payoff and found that they took my mortgage payment to pay my property taxes without my consent. To add salt to the wound, they reported me late to the credit bureaus. With the 2nd mortgage, I was forced to open a checking account with them and than charged $10 a month if I did not keep $1000.00 or more. This financial institution is a joke!

Ir depends on the individual. Some with Citi Financial are threatening and others are understanding. They refused payments when two payments were due they wouldn't accept payments unless they were western union. One person wanted all the money in the tune of 16,000 and then another person offered a modification. I am racing against the clock. I have a great deal of equity in my property they wouldn't consider an equity loan.
