Washington Mutual
February 04, 2011
We are a military family. We have been trying to work out a better loan with Chase (formerly Washington Mutual) for the past 2 years. In the process our bank was taken over by another bank. We were in the midst of loan modification and even had terms.

I am 8 months into foreclosure...I was made all of these promises from Wamu to make for a much cheaper payment and interest rate and they did not come thru. My payments blew up to 950.00 per month and they offered to lower it to 897.00. I need it to be around 600.00 to be able to afford it.

I have one principle residence and 2 rental properties. All are ARM with high interest rates (9%) but I'm paying "minimum" payments below PRIME and loosing principle each month. The rent does not cover the payments on the rental units.

I have been served with a summons for foreclosure and am going to file deed in lieu of foreclosure but am not sure what steps I need to take and can not afford a lawyer if it is not necessary.

A note of default was posted on my front door when I got home. I have 3/4 of the funds to pay to get caught up. I just don't have the remainder due which is around $2500. I really don't want to lose my home. I've lived here for 20 years. This is the first time I've had difficulties.

I am 90 days delinquent currently although I have made one principal payment of $880 and still owe $336 for the escrow amount for October. This is getting dire. This is all due to me losing my job in the Fall of 2007 and being unable to find suitable employment in my field.

I got sucked into a predatory lender. I had no idea who they were. Then got hit with identity theft which further ruined my credit. Many circumstances led me to this position. Starting with the hurricanes and my prior mort. co. not paying the insurance premium. I had to refinance,to get a roof.

I lost my job in the beginning of November. I owe the December payment and January has a grace period until the 15th. I have fallen behind in the past, but was always able to catch up. However, WAMU has always said they do not offer forbearance. A repayment plan would only raise my payment.
