Chase has delayed long enough
We have been working on an "extension" since March. I have been in frequent contact with a Mortgage Counselor through HUD. So far we have paid over $1000 additional payments to our escrow account as well as our house payments in order to bring about this "extension". Tonight we were told that if we did not "authorize an additional payment" they would call us 4 months delinquent and start the foreclosure process. We made a payment in April, May and June. At that time we were only behind by 2 months (we owed the February and March payments) In July we were instructed to send a payment (for May) and an additional escrow payment (for June) to get our "extension" and bring the account current and due for July 20th payment. On July 28th they said that "someone dropped the ball" and we needed to send an additional escrow payment to re-request the extension. In August they said that we needed to "miss" the August payment and send just an additional escrow payment so that they could do the "extension" for 3 months rather than 2. The end of August, they declined the Extension since we missed the August payment and requested an additional escrow payment for the September payment. The end of September, we sent a payment again because we were told we "needed an additional payment to go with the 3 payments of escrow that we made in order to request the extension". Tonight we were contacted and told that there were 2 payments made to our acct in September, one on the 21st and one on the 24th, but that we needed to authorize an additional payment today so that 3 payments were made in a row. Then we could call back in February to request an extension again and pay our payment with 3 additional months of escrow. The "supervisor" freely admitted to me on the phone that the extension "should have been approved several times" and that Chase "had made a mistake". She apologized but then proceeded to inform me that I had brought all of this on myself and I needed to "get on the ball and get this caught up". Yes, I was late in making payments, due to a garnishment on my husbands wages by IRS for federal income tax owed. But, I have done everything they have asked me to do and still no "extension". Several times they have put co-workers on the phone to pose as "supervisors" and when I mentioned their names to another "account manager" I would find out that they were job coaches or customer service representatives. I finally got to the point where I would answer the phone, but would ask to be transferred to one specific CSR that seemed to know what we were doing. However, her supervisor was not helpful at all. I just need some advice before this gets any worse! I have asked about a repayment plan or forbearance as and have been told by Chase that they do not do these. We both have decent income and can afford our home, we just need to know how to get it brought current
