Citi Mortgage won't help avoid foreclosure

August 26, 2010

I have been trying to do a workout plan or forbearance through citi mortgage and even though I have confirmation pages where I sent them proof of income documents by fax (which they require) they are saying if they did receive them that they were unable to read them. I only discovered this after waiting the time the representative said to wait to be contacted for the initial deposit payment. we now owe 10,000 dollars and I have 4000 i can make as an initial payment but the sale closure date will be set soon. they say they are trying to get an approval but I should call every day to see if the foreclosure department will approve it. I have been calling for 2 days now and they still have no answers. is it to late to avoid foreclosure?

CitiMortgage is ripping off American Taxpayers! They are not working with us to keep our homes.
We all need to join together in hopes of bringing this tragedy to the media. Our government allows Citimortgage to make their own rules. A national class action suit is an excellant option. Please write to all elected officals. They have turned their backs on home owners facing foreclosure. Citimortgage allows certain home modifications, yet deny others in the exact situation. Let your experience be known to every media outlet willing to learn the truth! Please, have compassion for millions of people bullied into walking away from the only asset we have left. Our homes, our proud, our dignity and rights are being denied. Elections are coming up. Stay strong and remember to detail each conversation in writing. I have been screwed over by Citimortgage for two years. I am prepared to share my experience with everyone.

I have been thru the samething over the last 10-11 months. They have stated they didnt receive this or that or I would not return calls, in which it was them that would not return calls. I have faxed papers to them I know 13 times, to say it my fault they didnt receive them, blah blah. I was told the foreclosure was canceled in May and have been still talking to 5 different people since then, only to get a letter in the mail this week stating my home was closed on in june. and that citi REO the mortgage and wants us out. I called and asked what was going on, 2 people stated thay had no idea it was canceled and 1 person said it was my fault they tried and they decided they would file the closure!!! wth gives with this company. now how can I fight this or can I get my home bk? they basically have stole the home by lies!!!

I was in the same mess. Couldn't read my fax, didn't get my fax, my overnight shipment arrived too late. Everytime I talked to someone they needed something different. FRUSTRATING!!!! They didnn't care if I kept my house or not. Finally I found a new, no cost program from helpahome.org. They paid my past due balance, brought my mortgage current and helped me keep my home. I applied in less than 10 mins and had an answer within a day! They did what I couldn't do.

Why is it that there are many companies that you think will help you, but they could not?

I was able to get a loan modification in May 2010. In April I was Laid off from work and have not been able to make payments due to lack of unemployment. Citi Mortgate told me to do a short sale or a sale 4 week prior to the foreclosure. Thye said that they could not help me with Home Appordable because my current income is not eneough to the amount of money that they can bear for me to keem my home. I asked that if I got a job because I was going to interviews to help me to understand how much money I had to make so that they could help me with the program Home Affordable and they said they could not help me with that. Then I aske houw much I needed to bring home current, then they said that even though I h the money to brig the house current that they would have to review my loan and my worthyness to be able to continue making the house payments and that I was possible that thye would not let me continue to make payment and they would take the home from me. Is this real. If I reinstate my loan they can still take it from me?

I have a question. I live in Illinois, and my wife and I are both on the mortgage, but only my wife is on the note. If our house goes into foreclosure, will my credit be affected? Also, if I buy another home in my name only, can the bank put a lien on my new house? And can they garnish my wages? Please advise. Thanks!

I have a FHA loan with CitiMortgage which is covered with insurance. I feel that because of the insurance they have no intension of helping me to bring my 6mo behind mortgage current. I have tried to give all the info they request but the foreclosure lawyer seems to be full steam ahead to take my home. I am able to pay the payment with a little extra but now am $10,000 in arrears not including whatever the lawyer fees are. They have told me for the past 2 months they would not take a payment which only compounds the problem. I have been at the same job for 24 years and have gotten into this mess due to helping family and a few unforseen repairs. Could a lawyer help and if so that is an additional expense on top of what I am behind. This farm my parents built and has extra meaning but of course where am I to go if I lose it? Any suggestions since this time bomb is soon to go off. It makes you wonder about just ending everything and being out of this misery. Why cant the banks do what they say they do and help with a resolution?

Well, finally a miracle arrived this month. CitiMortgage assigned a counselor and low and behold within the week we had my problem solved. They required a small amount down and put all the arrears on the back of the loan. They also changed my interest rate (this was a surprize) by 1/2% lower. I had attempted help again thru my Senators office. Not sure if this was what helped but am damn sure I now am not going to lose my home. Write down all contacts names, dates, what was said, etc.. This will help in case you have to go to court. Its shows all your attempts, what was said and what you did next that they asked for. Just prior to my miracle I was told my account had been closed early Oct. but had the records to show I had contact with them 3 times that month and no word of that ever came up. Once I got a person assigned instead of a new one with every call it seemed to workout. Keep the faith, pray alot, God is good.

Remember to call 2 days after faxing information to see if it is recieved. Yes they tell you it can take 2weeks to 1 month for an answer but you wont get it if they dont have your information. Be persistent. Call, and call again. You will get different people each time and I found they always wanted to go over the budget again and again along with the reason for being behind. Just jump thru all hoops, write it all down, if you fax and get a copy that says it went thru that might be good to hold onto to prove its not your fault their equiptment doesnt function correctly. If there is time, sending information with a recieved reciept might be better but of course they always want things yesterday. There would then be no question if the information was recieved.

I recieved my foreclosure paperwork from the courts in September. CitiMortgage did say that we were attempting a resolution. Therefore I never recieved anything else. I tried not to work with their lawyers. First of all I felt they would cost even more than they already were and was not sure not having my own lawyer if that was smart. I tried getting help with a HUD counselor but early this month they said no 3rd party interaction without going thru their lawyer so I had the counselor back out. It worked out for me but I did not lose my job and make a reasonable income. Hopefully I will be able to save for the next problem and not ever let this happen again.

I have had / am having all the above problems with CitiMortgage. Now I am being told I am being foreclosed on, yet I have never missed or been late on a single payment. I am in their cross-hairs over a year. Please contact me with any resources/help. I have contacted my State's Attorney General, State Senators, State Representatives, and more - with no responses whatsoever. Jim In Oregon

OMG !!! I just happen to have the same problem in my life. I was able to contact my state and they are helping and fed up with hearing the word citimortgage. They say call us we can help in a time of need and 2 months of them losing paperwork 4 times made it even worst. GET OUT NOW if you can from under their grip. We are unable because of medical issues which put us in the place we are now. Hopefully with a lot of prayers we can stay in out home.
