Chase told me to miss payments

August 03, 2010

I am a Chase Customer. Last year I also asked for a loan modification due to back surgery and health issues etc. I was advised that since I wasn't past due Chase could not do anything. I was advised to stop paying the mortgage and then they would help me. So I stopped paying and called directly after. I got the same run around everyone else did until six month ago. Then I was put in a trial period which I honored at a higher monthly rate. I received a letter with legal papers congratulating me and that I had been approved for a loan modification. Except the payment is only $96.00 less than my original mortgage payment. That's not a loan modification! I asked for help before I was ever late to no avail. I have an 8 year old, the house is falling a part. I just had 6 water leaks (for 2 months) fixed today before my floors fell in which shorts me my whole payment this month. It's so unfair to everyone out there to be treated this way and to have to worry about their homes, stability and mostly sanity over this. The Obama Plan help make your home affordable plan is a joke, and as you can see from the numerous posts on here, Chase does not care. Evidently, no one else does either, why else would they be "allowed" to continue to ruin peoples lives. That's exactly what they do when they run you around in circles and are NOT honest and forthright. VERY SAD!!! Some one needs to make Chase accountable. Too many people (me next probably) have already lost their homes over their greed. Can you please help me? I called Chase several times before my lower back surgery asking for help. I needed lumbar surgery and would be off for a while. I also have a kidney now is not functioning, liver issues, need sinus surgery, and blood problems. I was seeing many different doctors and having to take many medications. I had to stop seeing most of my Dr's and not get all my medications because I could not afford them. I called Chase MANY times (always getting a different story from who I spoke to), asking for help. They could not help unless I was in default. I went into default, all the time still calling and asking for help, just to get a notice in the mail that I was being foreclosed on. I called, and called again to which, I was eventually put on a forbearance plan. This was at a rate that was even higher than my mortgage payment. I paid 1409.00 each month for 6 months (I borrowed from my family, didn't have food for my 8 year old or I. I could not see my Dr's or purchase my medications. I called them and told them I had water pipes busting under the house that were leaking. I could not afford to get them fixed. I thought they might at least waive one payment so I could save the floors from falling in. I explained that I bought this double wide and just recently found out it did not have it's on well on the property. It is shared with the neighbor. It was also not on a permanent foundation. My car is falling a part. The pipes are busting, shingles flying off, hot water heater went bad, AC unit has broken several times. My electric runs $400.00 in the summer and $800.00 in the winter. It uses emergency back up heat because it never had a heating system. I never knew any of this. It was my first home purchase and I thought that is why you were charged an inspection fee. I am now paying almost 200k for a fabricated home, falling a part, without a well, etc.. I think that was unfair, and to me illegal to sell me a home with all these problems that I was never made aware of. The loan was sold a couple times (I refinanced once to try and get a lower payment. It actually went up because I was told I was not and had not been paying enough in Escrow. I lived on my credit cards for a while which are now maxed, and now am having to pay those. I kept receiving help letters (have most of them) saying they would help me if I was struggling. Not only did they NOT help, there so called help actually cost me more. I am under great financial stress and ONLY want to keep this property because it was bought from my brother and the land has been in the family for many years. The house next to me sold for 130k, and I am paying almost 200k for it. I got an offer in the mail a couple of weeks ago from Chase. They considered this help I suppose. My new payment would be 1290.00 month @ 5% interest. My original payment was 1384.00 per month at 6% interest. Yea.... They consider that help to me. I can't believe they even wasted the paper to send that out to me. Anyway, I am sick, a single mother of an 8 year old who can't even afford to buy him underwear (or a hamster - what he really wants) because of trying to hold onto this piece of junk. Chase has done nothing but run me around and around in circles. Again, I called them several times asking for help BEFORE I was ever late on a payment and got the run around. Now that I am trying to save the place, all I have gotten is a run around. I know they base the payment at like 31% of your gross, which is unfair. They take 600.00 of that for medical insurance, medicare, loans etc... I could probably swing 750.00 per month, and that's going high just so I can see my Dr's and not die anytime soon. My best bet would be to let it go into foreclosure and just go rent somewhere. But, I feel I worked hard all my life paying all of my bills, and being a good citizen. When it came time for someone to help me, they all turned their backs on me. So unfair!! I don't see why Chase won't help me. They would get more money from me than from a foreclosure. Please help me. I only have 750.00 for this months payment. I had to get the pipes fixed (just did today after 2 months) Respectfully.
