We are dealing with the same stuff with Citi Morgage, A loan Modification does not take up to a year!!!!!! been going through this since last August, but My husband was laid off, and we asked for the loan Modification. They said there are 3 modification's and we did not qaulifi for the first one or the seconde one, But the neglected to tell us it would hurt are credit! had we know now what we new before doing the loan Modication we would of just kepted are loan as is. and asked for help somewhere else. I been dealing with them. one of there loan officer's told me the sent us a text saying our modiification did not go through.... who on earth send's a text to a HOME phone? and we been getting phone call's from the philipeen's as well. then we kepted seeing when we send our check's to them...they would not cash them till the next moneth, so they said we were at default on our loan. so we took matter into our own hand's and sent it certified for the to sign. we kept an i on that letter and it did get signed on the Month. but was not cash till the next month again at the END of that Month! They were takeing on fee's that did not make sence.. so I called them and asked about there fee's that they were takeing onto, One of there fee's was, they come out to your home to see if your the home owner's. OK I did not have anyone come to my DOOR asking me if I was the HOME OWNER!!!! I have documented all my call's even as to printing out the call's DATE'S AND TIME'S and employee ID number and the name of the employee I talk to that day. They even said I had Coucler's and gave me bogus number's excepted for 2 of the coucler's and I keep calling them coucler'sBut they do not call me back' and do you think they get back to me NO! Call your local New's media. I called my local New's and I called Date Line you might want to contacted a Lawyer as we are doing this today... They said on one of the goodmorning america or date line that CITI MORGAGE is the number one Morgage that is makeing good Money! NOW I know WHY! I hope that this help's. We are also trying to get a loan modification that has been in the works since March. My first payment was due April 1 along with the paperwork. I sent the check with the paperwork, I know it was there because I had to open the corner of the envelope up to tuck it in, I forgot it. I sealed it back up with packing tape and initialed it so they would know I was the one who opened it.

I called before April 1 to see if they had the paperwork and if they needed anything else and was told no they got everything. I talked to them one more time a day or two later, told me again they had everything. I called April 8 to find out why my check hadn't cleared and the woman I talked to told me they hold the checks until they receive all 3. I told her that my paperwork said that you cash them and hold the funds until you have all 3. I called a couple of days later to check on what is happening and was told they had everything. I moved the money so that it wouldn't accidentally get spent. I sent my May payment in Mid April. On May 10 the check went through my bank and of course was sent back. I called immediately and was told that they don't hold the checks and they would send it through again, no problem. I asked them why my April check never went through and was told that I never sent them an April check. I told them I did and talked to a supervisor. I was told that they never got an April payment and that I was SOL, the rest didn't matter. I told him I was immediately sending a check to replace the April payment. He told me it didn't matter it was too late.

I called a few days later, still May, and talked to a female supervisor who told me that they had mistakenly put in the computer that my first payment was due March 1 instead of April 1 so they closed it but that it should never have been closed as she could see in the paperwork that I our payment wasn't due until April. I told her the whole story and she told me she was immediately re-opening the case and to make my 3rd payment by June 10 and then call her department and they would expedite it to underwriting.

I received a letter a couple of days later telling me that all they needed to receive to finish my modification was the 3rd payment and that they extended the due date to June 25, 2010.

I called on June 1 to see if they found the check and was told no but they were still looking. That everything was fine and to call and make the payment on time and notify them.

I called on June 8, to give them time to get the case re-opened. I made the payment and then called modification and told the person that I had made the payment. I was told that it would be expedited to underwriting as they had everything.

They never found my lost check and I had to put a stop payment out on it.

During this time I was also called by the Documentation Fulfillment Department and we went over the paperwork.

Over this time I called several times each month checking on the status. I was told that they could see it was in the que for underwriting. I made a payment for July, I was told it had never been re-opened. I talked to a supervisor and was told he would take care of it and it would be done by last Friday afternoon. I called after the given time and was told it was still closed. I talked to someone who after checking advised me that the supervisor I talked to was working with someone in another department to get it open and was told it would be done by Monday.

During all of this time I kept getting demand letters and I was told by everyone, including supervisors to ignore them, they wouldn't stop until the modification was done. The due date was Monday. I called today, Tuesday and talked to one person who said it was still closed so I requested a supervisor, preferably the one I had spoken to on Thursday.

I got a guy who I think is the one I talked to in the beginning that told me after I found out they lost my first check. He told me then, it didn't matter if I made up the missing payment, it would not be re-opened, accusing me of lying about sending them a check and I had no proof so it was a done deal. He told me that before we started we were 2 months behind on our payments. I told him that I was told in the beginning I had to be 2 months behind before they could consider modifying my loan.

Today he told me the same thing, I had no proof I sent the checks and they were all late. They had the first one a week before April 1, the second one was sent a week or more before it was due, they put it through I the 11 th.

I later talked to a supervisor who told me that they had the dates mixed up and it should never have been closed. I was told it was re-opened in mid June. I was told that they extended the due date for the last check to June 25, I also received a letter saying so. The guy today told me they can't extend payments just paperwork. I read him the letter including the part saying that they only thing I needed to do was make the last payment by June 25, not any other paperwork, the paperwork is specified as the check. I was on the phone for 1 1/2 hours with this jerk. He finally told me he would email they supervisor I talked to on Thursday and tell him to call me ASAP. We will see if he calls.
They have been lying to me every time I called. I have notes about each call with dates and times and for most the name of the person I spoke to.

I really do think that they tell you there would be no problem modifying the loan. They then string you along until you reach the date given for foreclosure, then take your home.

I live in Washington which has laws about these things so I will be contacting them tomorrow. I also live in a large metro area and there are 2 TV stations that investigate companies when the screw people over, the companies almost always get it fixed once contacted.

The battle continues!

I called them back on July 17 and talked to a woman who is a supervisor. I was told to call back next week to see if they have finished their review as they are behind, due to how busy they have been. I told her what happened with, the other supervisor. She asked me why I sent the check with the payments, so I read her the first place it says to send it, she said that I misunderstood, I was to send it in separately.

I then read her the whole instruction page that to place in the envelope provided these 5 items. Number 2 says first trial payment. They provide a separate check off list which also stated to include the payment in the envelope with the paperwork. She still wasn't totally convinced I was correct. If a supervisor in the department doesn't know how it works, who does? I say nobody, they make it up as you go.

I will be calling back in a couple of days. I also contacted the local HUD counselor and will be going to a orientation meeting on Tuesday and then work with them to see what they can do. I will see how that goes before I move to the next step.

CitiMortgage Loan Modification Class Action

Did you sign up for a loan modification with CitiMortgage and were placed into a trial program with reduced payments, only to be rejected from the program and imposed late fees and experienced other financial repercussions?

An attorney has filed a class action against CitiMortgage, on behalf of mortgage borrowers who have been wrongfully charged late fees and had their credit-worthiness ruined after being rejected from the permanent loan modification program, despite complying with the trial period guidelines.

Consumers that were rejected from the permanent loan modification program through no fault of their own should find themselves in no worse position than they entered it. Instead, CitiMortgage failed to honor its agreements, and its misrepresentations about the program, enacted to help homeowners reduce their payments and keep their homes, have left customers financially devastated.

For more detail regarding the class action, you may view the complaint here.

Although we are prosecuting this case as a class action, no class has yet been certified. If a class is certified, we will post further details here. If you wish to discuss this matter with us, or have any questions concerning your rights and interests with regard to this matter, please contact here.

how can we get help with attirney also

I have a mortgage with Citimortgage and the address we send everything to
(for a possible home mod) is in TX.
I will try to make my story brief..
In 2006 my husband lost his job for about 4 months. We got a bit behind but
just straightened it out in early 2008. Right then my husbands company went
on strike for 14 weeks. When they returned to work they were making 1/2
their pay. After 3 months my husband re-injured his back. 1 week after he
went out for his re-injury they closed his plant. (He hasn't been able to
return to the job field and has applied for SSD) From March 2008 through
present I have been trying to get a home mod. In January of 2010 I even
offered them 80k to pay down my mortgage and adjust my payment accordenly. I
begged for 5 months. The refused to refi us because by that time I lost my
job too. So, we were both jobless. They wouldn't home mod us because we had
cash on hand. Since then I have paid off our equity loans, credit cards and
taken care of some bills with my daughter's recent diagnosis. In July 2010;
they actually started a modification. Now, I have been playing a game where
they ask for the same paperwork over and over and over again. Every week.
It's a cycle. They call or write asking for paperwork. I call and tell them
they have it, they look in the "system" and see it and then tell me not to
worry about it. Then the next week it starts over again. I don't know where
to turn or what to do. No one seems to know what is going there...Wondering
if you could offer some quick help or advice?

Do I have to be 3 months behind in my morgage to qualify for a Loan Modification?
Posted By Debbie on January 05, 2011 at 09:41 AM
I also have citimortgage and hate it. I attempted a refinance on my own and kept getting run around, finally I went thru NACA. Citimortgage finally made me an offer and I accepted it, then months went by and they would not respond to myself or the NACA rep assisting. I made numerous calls and left many voicemails. Finally I reached someone who did help. In the end I was given the refinance but not at the interest rate they initially offered me and get this I have it in writing and they still insist that they never offered me the rate and finally told me to either take 7% or they could not help me. So now I have a mortgage reduced by 1% but increased by insurance and tax which I paid previously myself to help lower my house payments. Seems like I got screwed, my house payments are now more than 1 pay check.

Why refinance and pay fees which will add to your loan balance, when you can get a loan modification? With a loan modification there are no closing costs, you can lower your rate to 2%, you don't need any equity in your home, you could get a principal reduction, your credit score has nothing to do with qualifying for a loan modification, bankruptcy does not matter, foreclosure does not matter, and you can apply yourself and structure the loan modification to give you the lowest possible payment.

Get a loan modification and structure it to give you the best deal: good luck!

i had a loan modification, that took almost ayear. now that I have completed that contract, citit has decided to use the money to pay may mortgage a year in advance and use my current payments to collect some 'some unpaid fees and attorney bills that I had originally paid in the loan agreement.
