How loan does a Loan Modification take with HomEq
February 23, 2009
I need to get a resolution as quickly as possible. I would like to get my loan modified, and am currently behind roughly 9000.00 (this amount includes prior attorney fees when foreclosure was started in the past). I had a repayment agreement before and that stopped the foreclosure before. I can't do that this time because that would take my monthly payment to almost 1600.00.

Tina,
Im in the same situation. Homeq said I was 800 over my budget and they would not do a loan modificaiton. I said I wanted to do a deed-in-lue an she said that i needed to contact someone else in another department, so i gave up and the home will probably go into foreclosure.

EJ,
Yeah, Homeq is pretty tough to work with. If you get a loan modification done, can you afford the payments? If you can then you should call the company I used. The only negative is that they charge upfront fees, but they
offer a 100% guarantee if they can't get your modification done so you get your money back if they can't help you.

even if you got a loan mod, they require 30% of what you are past due before they will give you a deal.
I am proud to say that Homeq is my servicing company of my mortgage loan. I really wish that people really do wake up and realize, yes we are all going through hardships but we must adapt to it. I tried to modify my home because I to fell behind on my mortgage after losing my job and realizing unemployment isn't enough money to pay the bills. A representative went over my financial information and told how far in the negatives I was...believe me I wanted to cry but its was the truth so I took the advice and got a part-time job cut back on some expenses. Now I can manage my payments. I think they are tough for a reason and that is to help people realize that if you want to keep your home you have to adapt to changes such as the economy.

We were only one month behind on our adjustable rate payment when I tried to get HomEq to modify our loan and all they did was give me the run-around! I couldn’t believe it when the guy on the phone (he was a big jerk!) actually said that my family shouldn’t eat so much because then we would spend less on groceries and would have more money to make our mortgage payment! He also said we should get a cheaper car and a bunch of other stuff that was really rude. This whole thing was keeping me up at night worrying about what was going to happen to us. I told my friend at work about this and she said I should call the loan modification company that got her loan modified down to 3.25% fixed interest rate! I finally decided to call them, and in about 45 days they got my interest rate down to 3.85% on a fixed rate too! The company is American Foreclosure Specialists and we are really happy with what they did for us. The website is afscanhelp.com. We chose them because they didn’t make a bunch of promises like some of the other companies and they had a 100% money back guarantee. I hope this helps some other people fighting with their loan company!
