Is there anyhting we can do if EMC wants mroe on a payment plan than we can afford

we have tried to work with EMC and they have put us on payments in 6 month plans but the amount is way too high and they will not reduce or refinance. my wife was on a medical for two months last winter and we have gotten behind on most of our bills mostly because we have put most of our money into paying the house payments. we were going to use the tax rebate money to pay the house and car payment,ect. but we didn't receive the money on friday like we thought. we both work and we need our car to go to work plus we need gas money,food, electric & gas, plus we have a son who graduates from school on may 29th, 2008 and he will start working afterwards.(he can help us with some of the bills as part of his rent)but we need help now. and I see to end to this problem due to the payments being so high. the payments are more than my take home pay each month.we have tried to get help before but were told we weren't in the house long enough or to try again in 6 months.we need to get lower payments that I can afford on my pay alone and my wife can pay our other bills each month.thank you
