I just want the house gone
We moved to Austin in October of 2002 for job opportunities after the company I was working for was bought out and everyone was laid off. We'd been trying to sell our house in Buford, GA (just outside of Atlanta) for a couple months with no luck. We continued to try to sell remotely for a couple more months until we could no longer afford rent here and the mortgage there. At that point, I entered an agreement with an "I Owner Finance" guy. Basically, a trust. His goal was to get people into Lease/Purchase or Purchase agreements. He was to take care of all property management issues and pay the mortgage and homeowner association dues etc. Well, that worked OK (for the most part) for 5 and a half years. Late February of this year, I get a call from the bank saying they had not received a payment since November of 2007. This is the first I'd heard of any trouble. I tracked the "I Owner Finance" guy down and he gives me a sob story about the rental market being soft, etc. That is, in short, how I got here. As of now, I've applied to be considered for a "Deed in Lieu." Bank is moving slow and is not at all communicative on the process or current status. They have also hired a law firm to start foreclosure. Auction date for the house (I found out last week), is May 6, 2008. I owe about 146,000 on the loan and about 5,500 in mortgage payments and fees. My goal is to simply unload the house. I don't care if I make a dime or even pay a little. I just want it gone and to avoid foreclosure or bankruptcy.
