I am intemidated by the foreclosure and by First Horizon
I am behind on mortgage payments due to job loss 7/2/2007 and separation/ divorce with my wife no longer contributing towards home payment. I was only 2 months behind when I entered information for consideration for First Horizon's workout program on 10/1/2007. It took First Horizon until 2/20/2008 to respond and deny my work out package. During that 4 month window they would not except any payments toward the mortgage. Thus, I am now 6 months behind and my taxes and escrow is all screwed up so my monthly payment went up $300. They are now demanding the total amount owed on the house and have notified me through their lawyer that they have begun foreclosure proceedings. They have not returned my consistent contacts for over 3 months. I am trying to sell the house and have had it listed on the market since 9/1/2007, however, it has not sold yet. The house is in great shape and should sell this spring. I do not live in the house as I had to move to FL to attempt to gain employment. I do have a renter ready to move in and pay rent equal to the mortgage amount until the house sells. I am hesitant, and intimidated by the foreclosure.

I have had nothing but grief when compelled to deal with the amorphous company. I have faithfully paid the mortgage and on two occasions tried to pay ahead of time anticipating a trip overseas. Instead of applying the second payment to the mortgage the robots applied to the principal and charged me a late fee for non-payment of the month after. I sent documentation to only three of their offices but eventually received a refusal. I work two jobs to pay the bills, so paying a double mortgage is a real sacrifice. (I am 73 years old too!) First Horizon is the worst company I have ever experienced.
