We hope to get disablity to save our home from foreclosure

January 07, 2008

1997 Real Estate Taxes show Fair Market Value at 99,200 we owe approximately 65,000. We are behind on payment due to Husbands health issues. His Disability Court date should be in the near future according to a letter received from SSI. My income for 2007 was 25,6000.. We have 11 1/2 acres w/4 yr old large pole barn. The needs to be torn down and a Modular home put on top of the basement which would come to approximately 95,000 including paying off the 1st/2nd mortgages and back taxes.

  • What is the foreclosure process... how long do I have before they take my home? - February 18, 2009

You're situation sound like it's similar to mine, my house was completely destroyed in the "Midwest Floods" in August of 2007 (FEMA #1719) and I was ordered out of my home by the city due to the extensive damge and toxic mold. I HAD TO find a place to rent and couldn't afford to pay the mortgage on a destroyed house AND rent so I HAD to stop paying my mortgage while I was working with FEMA (what A JOKE they are.. they do NOTHING) to try to get funding to rebuild my home. Countrywide was the orginal lender and they had told me that they have the ability to reduce the priciple to reflect "current post disaster fair market value". I supplied Countrywide with EVERY SINGLE DOCUMENT AND RELATED PAPERWORK including a very long and detailed letter of hardship and also estimates and appraisals and then they were bought out by Bank of America. BOA now claims that they know nothing of any loan/principle modification from Countrywide and has done NOTHING to work out a fair solution to this disaster. The house has been ordered by the city to be razed and the cost of doing so is around $20,000.00. The land tax appraised value is at $72,400.00 which leave a NET total "value" of only $52,00.00. My original principle is $150,000.00 and now with arrearage, etc is over $202,000.00 on what is actually only worth $52,000.00, talk about being UNDERWATER.. pun intended... BOA stands to lose so much by foreclosing and I'm trying despirately to get them to understand that and am willing to even meet them half way but they just keep offering to change the interest rate which.. would be GREAT IF I COULD LIVE IN THE HOUSE but it's posted "Unfit for Human Occupancy" by the city and must be demolished. What can I do??????????
