Lost job has caused me to get behind on my mortgage with GMAC

January 08, 2008

I lost my job and it has caused extreme financial issues. We need help! If we lose our house we may lose my step son. We received a letter dated 1/2/08 saying we had to pay in full by 2/2/08 they will foreclose. We can make the payment in full by the end of feb or beginning of march. They don't want to work with us. After losing my job it makes it really hard to make the payments where they are. If we could refinance and pay off our other bills we would be able to make roughly a 1800 dollar payment. Our house is worth 162000 and we owe 149000. However, with the financial hardships our credit scores are too low for anyone to help us.

I am im the same situation with them, I fell two months behind, Nov and Dec and sent both Jan 7th, they sent it back and said my home is in foreclosure!!! I had no idea and am now freaking out trying to save my home. There are numerous complaints about this company, we should all do something about them.

They did the same thing to us and we are freaking out as well. We have 4 kids and can't get assistance from anyone that can help us with this situation.

I feel like they are totally railroading me, I have faxed in all this stuff for a loss mitigation to see If I could qualify for some kind of help with this, I faxed it in twice and they said they never got anything, BULL! On one day they said I owed them 5700 for the back payments and then the next day, I called and he said, "Ohhh, uh ho, your payment has ballooned to 3300 per month and that I owed them for three months at $10,000...I was totally shocked, it makes no sense to me, they wont work with me on anything , they dont know what they're talking about, and all that I spoke to have been completely rude to me, I have been in my home for over 6 years and they are stealing it out right from under me..He said I wont qualify for any programs or anything and to sell the house..any suggestions from anyone out there?

I am in a situation as much as the one listed above. I am triing to sell my house on a short sale since Feburary 2008. I have sent GMAC all the necessary paperwork and they still say they never received it. BULL.. My real estate broker has also submitted these in twice as well and no call back or word from them. Now I have received my motion from them and I have been triing to sale this from going to sale. Can someone assist me?

Amazing! The same story! We fell two months behind and then started making payments to them AS DIRECTED BY GMAC. Today we get a letter saying they are going to file a NOD if we do not pay 11k in 30 days. I have been on hold for 45 minutes trying to get through and they either disconnect me or never pick up. What is going on with this company? How can we proceed in good faith?

we are in the same boat my huband lost his job and we fell behind on payments. Our house is worth close to 200,000 and our mortgage is only for 130,000 but since we are so behind and got foreclosure papers we can't get any help because our house is worth more than what we owe Go Figure?

I cannot believe what I'm reading! I'm in the exact situation...two months behind, trying numerous times to talk with them, CSR's not taking notes, they even keep telling me I need to give up cigs & liquor which I don't even use, they refuse to take partial payments, stating they never rec'd any paperwork (should have sent certified!), rude CSR's (when you can understand them!), they call 4-6 times per DAY & tell you each time there's nothing they can do for me.

This is my 3rd loan with them...never been late before...EVER. I saw on the news Tuesday (12/30/08) that federal govt gave them $9billion after making them part of the banking group. Who knows what will happen now!

I've got the house up for sale...though not a short sale. I'm hoping the foreclosure doesn't get started before I sell. It's looking like I'll be back at work in Jan 09...so praying foreclosure hasn't been started. Think I'll contact the news network about them.

I am in the same boat. I feel behind after loosing my job and taking 3 months to find another. I filed bankruptcy in October only to see if getting rid of all my other debt would allow me to get caught up. They have raised my mortgage payment from 970 to 1320 plus I have a 2nd to contend to. Now I get a letter telling my I have to pony up 5K within 5 days with a motion to relieve stay to start foreclosure process from an attorney. I never got any support from anyone down there and I kept them in the loop from day one. I have decided to walk away. I can rent a condo for almost half of what I am struggling to pay for this house. Its the hardest decision I have ever made but I am so tired of living like this! I am disappointed the feds gave them $ I think it just gave them more power to not help us. Where is our bailout - We are middle class, hard working America and we are lossing our American dream to own our own homes! God Bless.

Same thing..we live in AZ, both me and y husband have been laid off, my husband twice and I called them back in Jan of 08 and told them and they said find a job that pays more. HAA, so I call in Oct. girl by the name of Alisesa and she sayscall back Dec 1st and you qualify for a "short refi", so I do, GUESS WHAT..the lady calls me a liar and says I told them the wrong info!! (Ohh, I had faxed in the "having problems making your payment form back in Feb of 08..go figure that they never got it either!), anyhow lady tells me to HANG UP, I refuse and say get a manager and she tells me " glad you lost your job" and hangs up the phone...we are in our first month of not paying..I am recording all phone conversations with GMAC moving forward and presenting a case to an atto. and a copy to Obama not that he will get it..:)

Ive called GMAC to advise PLEASE help and advise what can we do to keep the foreclosure from happening to us. my wife starts working next week , I'm starting a new job also working but at about 25% of our previous household income our credit is still ok .We want to do a loan modification any guidance would be save our family the grief some others bloggers went thru. I am also in the same boat as the rest of you. There is help. Go to afscanhelp.com. They are an organization that are well familiar with our situations. They can help you as they are me. They are doing great so far.
God Bless all of you!

I hope you have better luck with NACA than I did. I have been registered with them since October 2008 with no reponse from the mortgage company to their 2 modification proposals. I received notification of foreclosure proceedings last week. So I am packing up and looking for a place to rent:(

We were only one month behind on our adjustable rate payment when I tried to get them to modify our loan and all they did was give me the run-around! I couldn’t believe it when the guy on the phone (he was a big jerk!) actually said that my family shouldn’t eat so much because then we would spend less on groceries and would have more money to make our mortgage payment! He also said we should get a cheaper car and a bunch of other stuff that was really rude. This whole thing was keeping me up at night worrying about what was going to happen to us. I told my friend at work about this and she said I should call the loan modification company that got her loan modified down to 3.25% fixed interest rate! I finally decided to call them, and in about 45 days they got my interest rate down to 3.85% on a fixed rate too! The company is American Foreclosure Specialists and we are really happy with what they did for us. The website is afscanhelp.com. We chose them because they didn’t make a bunch of promises like some of the other companies and they had a 100% money back guarantee. I hope this helps some other people fighting with their loan company!

GMAC's illegal practices must stop!
We are in the same boat! Lost my job and tried to get them to modify our payment. They refused..then they increased our monthy payments, sent us a notice of a ballon payment and when we could not pay $12,000 they put it on the back of the loan.at that point we stopped paying our mortgage. We handed it over to a broker who has been working with them to do a loan modification which they verbally agreed to do, but now they are refusing and forclosing on us. Our house goes up for sale in 20 days. We have faithfully paid for 5 years and now are being forced out! If you live in Ca and GMAC is doing this to you

GMAC is ripping people off with their ridiculous, unethical mortgage practices and no one takes notice. Our home loan was previously with Homecomings Financial.. a sister company to GMAC. They were rude, uncompassionate and hard to reach... but GMAC has proved to be 10 times worse. They take advantage of hard working, honest homeowners and call them deadbeats and losers to their FACE! Our home loan was bought up by GMAC in the middle of our loan. With little notice, one day we get a notice that says our home loan is now with GMAC and not Homecomings. At the time.... we were 30 days behind on our mortgage. With homecomings, it took 90 days past due to begin foreclosure proceedings. With GMAC... its 30 days. They sent us no letters, no emails and no phone calls. We keep trying to make payments but they won't let us. Our home is on the market now and with $50k in equity, we are going to lose $8 of it to "lawyers fees." They won't even talk to us except to tell us how we are losers.. they refer us to our attorneys. DONT DO BUSINESS EVER WITH GMAC!! AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!!
