Foreclosure has started, is there anything that can be done with Chase now?

January 23, 2008

Unfortunately we got behind on our payments about a year ago and have been playing catch up ever since. My husband's pay was cut substantially. He is the home construction sales and the business had been very slow. Fortunately it is picking back up, but we are still playing catch up with all of our bills. We do not want to loose our home! Chase will not return my calls. I even called to make 2 payments last week and they refused it because they started foreclosure procedures THAT day! I have left several messages for our "case worker" and she has NEVER called me back. Foreclosure procedures started 1/10/08. What can we do?

There are some things you can do to stop the foreclosure process. It's probably not going to be something that you want to tackle on your own. As you can see, Chase is not very responsive to the calls and pleas of homeowners.

Please help me stop foreclosure.

Save everything you get from chase and write down every single time you talk with them. I just paid 3750 dollars today to chase to get out of a fraudulent foreclosure. They put 2 payments mistakenly in our escrow instead of crediting them to our account. they then send back Jan payment in the mail never stating any reason. My state representative is working with me to try to get them investigated. Their BBB rating is an F...... email me if you need any info...

I am having major problems with Chase Home Finance, too! I called and spoke w/ customer service and they talk to me like shit. I would explain myself to one representative and then passed to another and would have to explain my whole situation AGAIN. I have been behind BUT I have been sending in lump sums to get caught up. I called the other night to see why money orders i sent were not cashed, they said it was not for the full amount and they are sending them back to us. Every single time i speak to someone they would tell me a different figure amount. They DO NOT know what they are doing at CHASE. I am so stressed out and i cannot get a hold of the right person. WE need to do something about this company ripping us off. They add any charges they want onto your acct and you ask why and some of the CSR say " I'm not sure why thats there" Why would she not know???? One CSR told me that I need to get my paperwork straight. I told her that I had everything in front of me with the dates that CHASE sent me things and the amounts are not adding up correctly. They are just a SCREWED UP COMPANY! PLEASE HELP ME AND OTHERS!

I am having the same problem. I was out of work for three months and told them up front that I needed help. I was told that I needed to contact three other reps and no one would call me back. I tried to send them a payment a month ago that would have put me at only 45 days past due and it was sent back almost three weeks later. I called them and was told that there was a new program that could help me, I waited a week after giving a rep all the information required to start the program. I now have the full amount to get caught up and they told me that they had sent it to a lawyer three days after they offered to help me. Thing is my mom is disabled and now I am worried where we are going to end up since they will not work with me to remedy this situation. They never told me that I had any options to get caught up and when they did they sent me to a lawyer three days later. I have the money to pay and they won't take it. PLEASE HELP!!!!

I was just told by a CSR that I only had to pay $3381 and then i will be caught up...well i sent that payment over the weekend...CERTIFIED MAIL....I guarantee that they will have another CSR tell me that we still owe something . I should be up to date and I should only owe for March. I pray every night that this was a CSR that knew what they were talking about. They better not send that payment back or I am getting a lawyer. I can't stand Chase and they have me so stressed out right now, its not even funny! My children are feeling the tension as well! I hope to GOD that someone will get to the bottom of this and investigate Chase and why are they such a rip off co. I just had to vent a little bit of my frustration!

I got married 18 months ago, had the wife's home up for sale but no luck. Stopped making payments on it in January of 2008 as utilities and property taxes went up so much we cant afford both houses anymore. Chase sent us a letter dated March 4, 2008 with the case worker's name and they advised us if we dont respond in 10 days they will close our case without helping us. The case workers voice mail is always full and I cant get through. His name is Andrew Meade 614-422-6562. When I call their home assistance number to speak with his supervisor I get automatically routed to collections instead. I was on hold 30 minutes before collections answered and said who they were. I was then transferred to home owners assistance on hold for another 20 minutes and then told to just wait for Andrew to call me. You should be happy you even got through to your case worker. I think mine is on vacation or taking a nap instead of doing his job.

This is the same thing I have been going through with Chase as well. I just made a $3800 payment two weeks ago & they call me every day, regardless of the repayment agreement which I have not fallen behind on. I truly mean it when I say I hate Chase.

I bought a house in November 2005 there are 2 loans on the house and they have been sold 4 times (each one). I have been fighting with Chase for over a year. The finance company before them did not forward my payments to Chase as a result they said I was behind. My calculations showed $2099.00. Chase said to keep my home I needed a repayment plan and forced me to sign it or they were foreclosing. I signed it and sent them $2000.00 to start the repayment plan. After I made 3 payments I told them I wanted a break-down of the charges. They were charging 17.00 to drive by and see if I was still living there every month plus late fees plus interest on interest. When I asked for the break-down they couldn't find the repayment plan and wanted me to send them a copy. They have foreclosed and sold it. I am still fighting with them as I still live in the house. There has to be something we can do to stop Chase from doing this to others. The attorney for Chase said foreclosure was happening to me and 6 million others. There has to be a way to stop them from their bad business practices.

I got a notice i am in default is that the same as foreclosure?I sent them this months payment and some on the one im behind and planned to pay the rest this week will that save me i will let ya all know
Posted By sharon on May 18, 2008 at 01:26 PM
Default is not the same as foreclosure. Default is where they usually add about $3000.00 to the balance you are behind for attorney fees. Then if you try to catch up they will tell you that you need a repayment plan. Are you only behind 1 payment? I would just keep sending them as much as you can if you are only behind 1 payment. Ask for a printout on your account showing what they are charging you for. They may start charging interest on interest which would make you 2 payments behind plus attorney fees.

I was in default they said and i was suppose to be two months behind.actually i was only one as they said they do not get your payment and they do not post it for 7 and he said sometimes ten days.I sent them all they ask for today to catch up .they say its ok now but i dont trust them anymore and im still scared they will come and take my home.I by the way got all this news on my 26th anniversary .But you see my husband died one and a half years ago.The guy from ohio was so cold and cruel i felt i may as well be in jail i spent the week end in tears .Today i caught everything up i hope nothing else comes up on it and by the way 20 dollars to have them take it out at my bank is that not sad. Then they told me to write a check early to get it there on time since it takes so long.I dont have money till the middle of the month and they say its not getting there on time so every month it dont there gonna add another charge. Why dont they work with folks.I sure liked my other loan company.

I've had similar incidents in which Chase has either added an Insurance Escrow on my account or late charges in excess to the normal charges. My telephone experience has also been similar: lack of concern or ability to assist with my issue. Lack of explanation of actions taken. I requested a loan modification in December of 2007; waited over a month called and was informed the specific "department" did not get my "emailed docs". Resent all docs a couple of times over the next few months. In the US mail I received literally an one sentence denial letter-this was yesterday 6/23/08. The government and mortgage lenders act as if they are proactive in helping home owners stay in their homes. It appears on has to be months in arrear before the mortgage company will work with you.
Posted By Cynthia McDonald on June 24, 2008 at 02:08 PM
Chase is arrogant and I too have played the loan modification game with them. I was denied because they said I could afford the payment. I was also told I could resubmit again and wait another 60-90 days for a second review.
I went to a HUD counselor 6/30/08 and am in Michigan.I think I'll just let Chase have the house and take my chances with a foreclosure.Hud counselor said it would only really affect my credit for about 24 months if I kept everything else clean. My property has lost $40,000 in value in one year and I owe 20,000 more than its worth.
Feed up in Michigan.

I also asked Chase for a modification before the rate adjsuted from 7.24 to 10.24 beause my income had dropped 15,000 and even it it hadn't I was goingto have major problems. They said no reapply. I did 3 months ago for one of their so called new programs and I am sending them 795.00 every month and have stoppped taking medicine to afford the payment. Althoguh I am behind two months, they have sid as long as I send them a payment they will not move forward with default. I don't believe them. In todays news a lady killed herself 1 hour before forclosure sale. I won't have to use a gun, not taking heart meds will do it for me.

We put up our manufactured home in 1993. We paid in escro for taxes to be paid by the mortgage co to the state and/or county. First two years are for bare ground then on the residence from that time forward. Due to lack of service by our local assesor the taxes were not assesed untill several yeaars later. At that time St Joseph county sent to Chase a tax bill for around 10,000. Chae took this to mean our tax bill was 10,000 a year on property assesed at 105,000. We have been in constant contact with our case worker at chase and several others that we have been passed to.our payment was raised from 645.00 = or - a few dollars to over 2100.00 dollars. Of coarse we screamed that this wasnt right, that our tax bill is 1580.00 a year. sent the tax papers 4 separate times. Now they say it is too late and received a forecloser notice today. Can anyone tell me how if we did everything in our power to notify chase and send supporting documents, that this can happen.
Posted By Harold Bolin on July 26, 2008 at 04:49 PM
Chase Mortgage should be investigated by all state attorneys. Their practices are both questionable and fly in the face of customer service.

Having spent no less than 60 minutes each day on the phone with them for the last 10 days, I a still no closer to understanding the status of my loan. Yes I have been late, yes I have paid all late fees, and yes I still get treated like dirt... all blamed on their conversion to a new processing system they implemented on July 1st. They can not even send a letter out simply saying that my payment has been processed.

If anyone knows the corporate structure of Chase Home Finance as it relates to JPMorgan (with names, address and phone numbers), please share. As a customer of Chase I have a responsibility to be dealt with. Not simply blown off each time I call.

It's sad to see that Chase has not changed. My husband and I had our first mortgage with Chase. Unfortunately my husband was out of work for over six months. When he was first laid off I contacted Chase to see what could be done. At the time I did not make a lot of money since we had just relocated and I was trying to find a decent job. Anyway, they offered us a forebearance plan. After applying we were denied. We decided to put our house up for sale to avoid having a foreclosure on our credit. Within the first week we had 3 offers. However, Chase was very hard to deal with because somehow they had to have a say in the sale of the property. ??? None of the sales went through because of Chase. They eventually foreclosed on the house. I started packing all of our belongings because we had the date to vacate the premises. It was not until then that Chase (the same woman that I spoke to six months prior) called to work something out. We were pissed but we took the offer. We are still in our home. We have since refinanced (we are having a hard time now with the new people because we were on a plan and were 4 days late). That's another story in itself. Maybe I should start playing lotto so I can win enough to pay off the mortgage.

Since March I been waiting for dam Chase to close on the house that me and my house want to sale to a property invester and it's done by doing a short sale. The house is about 56k and the investor offer 50k and Chase doesn't want to take that amount. Their lost because they won't get that 50k when it go's to forcloser
Posted By sylvia on September 24, 2008 at 04:48 PM
I agree with all of you that someone should do something about Chase. Last year they add 16k to my escrow because they said that my house did not have insurance i showed them proof and still said that I owed them money and stop accepting payments. I am in foreclosure and even before that I asked for a loand modification and send them all the paperwork and still denied it. I been out of work for about five months and waiting for another answer and see if they modifify the loans. my lawyer filed for chapter 13 but so far no answer from them. Wouldn't our econmy be better if the banks can modify the loans and we will make the payments instead of not making any payments and waiting for what is going to happen. All the stress that our children had to go trough and us thinking what are we going to do.
