Centennial Celebration
Our church congregation is getting ready to celebrate one hundred years. Our slogan is "Remembering the Past, Imagining the Future". Coincidentally, the State of Oklahoma is also celebrating 100 years of statehood. So, everyone around here is pretty much involved in some sort of celebration.
The strange thing about celebrating 100 years of anything is that there isn't anyone around that has witnessed the entire 100 years. We are celebrating the vision and dreams of people who have left this world in our hands.
Our church has undergone so much transition in the last few years. We've had staff changes and also the aspiration of building a new facility to accommodate our growing congregation. Change is tough. Change is expensive. Change hurts.
But, we were reminded that the founders of our church, a century ago, also made changes and transitions that probably were painful. Early settlers of the new state of Oklahoma had to sacrifice their income to build our church, and not just stones and wood, but hearts and minds. That foundation must have been solid because here we are 100 years later, thanks to their sacrifice and foresight.
So, what are you investing in that will last 100 years?? Are you financially solvent so your children and grandchildren can inherit peace when you leave this earth?? Have you invested in your family so your children and grandchildren will receive your wisdom and Godly character? Have you invested in your community and church so that in 100 years those strangers will look back and thank-you for your sacrifice??
I was just wondering....
