Making the Big Bucks at Home
I heard on the radio the other day that I just got a raise! I was so excited. The report stated that stay-at-home moms have earned a 3% raise over last years earning, which for me was a new pair of Nike's. I'm thinking this year I might just get a nice pair of no-show socks to compliment my next pair of running shoes, that already wore out 3 months ago!
I searched the internet and sure enough, they say the "typical" stay-at-home mother in the United States should earn $138,095 per year for her services as housekeeper, cook, psychologist, day care operator, laundry attendant, drive, janitor and chief executive officer, just to name a few!
Apparently a typical mother puts in about 92 hours a week which means I should be seeing about 52 hours a week in overtime! I've heard overtime is a good thing so you can imagine my joy.
I just haven't really figured out what my hours are. I've heard that a mother of boys works from "son up to son down". I wonder if that lady that only works 92 hours a week needs a replacement. I could use a vacation like that!
My 5 boys and little girl keep me running from daylight to latenight. It's that sixth "boy" in the house that can't seems to require a bit more attention. Apparently his boss doesn't allow him to take a second job...something about a non-compete clause. I just wish I could convince him that the recliner does fold up before the "King of Queens" repeats roll around each evening.
I tried clocking out today after supper but the dishes needed to be done, the laundry wasn't folded and there were medicines to pass out to the latest poison ivy victim. I'm sitting here at the computer trying to look invisible but apparently the "open for business" sign is still blinking. One needs his math graded and the other needs a bath. Even the cat is looking at me funny.
Maybe overtime is that thing that happens in the middle of the night when my husband hears someone coughing and wakes me up to get them medicine. I really need to check my benefits package!
