Which debt should I pay my mortgage or credit card bills?

What should you do… skip paying your bills and focus on your mortgage payment or delay your mortgage payment to pay the other bills? We had asked this all the time and the bottom line is we always tell people to pay your mortgage payment first and pay the rest of your bills with what is left over. The majority of your other debt is unsecured and the worst they can do is sue you. A mortgage company can take away your house and that is something he did not want to happen.




"We can't make these payments and pay other obligations like student loans."

Homeowners need to look into other options and always make their house payments if possible. Student loans have forbearances that allow you to pay smaller amounts for a certain period of time that may give you the cushion you need. If you become delinquent on your credit card payments they will harass you and eventually they may try to get a judgment against you. At worst, if they can do if they did get a judgment against you is garnish a portion of your wage to pay the debt off. This is still much better than losing your home and that must be your top priority.

we r 2 mos behind on our 1st and 2nd. also behind on our monthly payments for our 2 cars. i've been putting the mortgage first, but since our payments increased and can no longer afford it, i will have to start paying for the cars instead. i cant have the cars taken away, otherwise how will we get to work? we commute 35 miles to work. any suggestions?

I just found out the parent company to which whom we bought our home from got charged with and convicted of securities fraud the same year we purchased our home. I also found out they are selling our loans to someone else and now they are trying a fast one with doing a voluntary surrender and repossession of property. I have paid 14,000 into the home and our loan is still the same amount from two years ago how is that legal my question is HOW can I get out from under them and what are my rights no one seems to be able to help. Hopelessly waiting for help.
